Douro House
Built on the slopes of Douro, this house is the result of a sensitive interpretation of the territory and landscape.
The structure follows the uneven terrain, creating an organic relationship between interior and exterior, where light plays a central role. The project extends into the landscape, achieving a natural balance between construction and nature.

The architecture is discreet, but intentional. The simple volumetry and natural materials blend into the hillside profile, respecting the land.
Stone and wood dialogue with the location, while the landscape softens the transition between the building and the land, resulting in an expression of sobriety and timelessness.
During the day, natural light fills the space and brings life and movement to each room over time.
At night, the project takes on a new identity, where built-in lighting and spotlights define pathways, highlight structural elements, and create a scenic atmosphere. Light becomes an extension of the architectural design, which does not dominate, but merely complements.

The spatial organisation arises from the intention to create paths that lead to a new perspective.
The main entrance, the exterior staircase, the longitudinal pool, and the sheltered living area enhance the sensory experience. Every detail is resolved with precision, balancing function and aesthetics.

At Douro House, there is no visual noise or artificiality, and luxury is quiet and contained.
Sophistication emerges from the rigor of proportions, an understanding of materials, and an interpretation of geography, allowing for an authentic interpretation of the terrain where it is located.
